About the MES Diamondbacks PTO
Dear Parents, Teachers and Students:
Welcome Back! As MES kicks off the 3rd year at our new campus, we are excited about
the opportunities and challenges ahead. Our new board has been meeting through the summer
to determine priorities and plans for the upcoming year, and we think this will be the best one yet!
The top three focus areas identified for 2008-2009 are:
- Increased Parent Involvement
- Improved Communication
- Accelerated Reader Program
Studies show that children succeed in school at higher levels when parents are involved.
PTO is a great way to get involved, contribute and be better informed about issues affecting
MES and the Maricopa Unified School District. Your involvement demonstrates the importance
of school to your children. Please consider committing to our 2 Hour Power program this year.
Together, parents and teachers can be a voice for children’s interests in the community.
And we have a great time, to boot! Relationships that develop with other parents through PTO form a basis for consistent, healthier
messages to children, both in and out of school.
Feedback from last year’s PTO survey indicated that many parents weren’t sufficiently aware of
scheduled activities and events. Starting with the information available on this
website, we hope to change that this year! We’re making special effort to alert
parents and faculty about events of interest this year via our Events Calendar.
This PTO Web Page is being revamped, our monthly newsletter
will get a facelift as well, and will be available by email (sign up online).
There are a number of great FUN-draising programs we’re sponsoring this year. One of last years’
biggest successes was our Fry’s Cool Cash® program, which raised the $2,000 maximum for MES faster
than any other school, and logged the highest sales total in the state!! Be sure to look for details
of the Fry’s and Bashas’ loyalty card programs on the Fundraising page, and register your card again for this year’s
campaign. Don’t forget to pick out a MES Spirit Shirt, and feel free to stop any PTO Board Member with
questions, comments or concerns.
It’s going to be a great year, and we hope you’ll help us make a difference!
