Thank you for all of your help with our 1st Spring Carnival

The MES-PTO would like to thank all of the parent volunteers, The Key Club and the High School students for volunteering their time to make our carnival a success!  We would also like to thank all of the families that donated items to the baskets for the silent auction.  We hope that you all had a great time while you were at the carnival!  The carnival was such a success; we are already planning for next year. .

Spring Carnival (April 5th)

Attention Parents, Friends and Family members:

Maricopa Elementary School will be hosting its first Spring Carnival on Saturday, April 5th. There will be flyers going home with students next week with all the details. The event is from 10am-2pm in the back field at the school. We need volunteers like you to help facilitate the event. We need assistance with setup, booth attendants and clean up to name a few things. Any time commitment you could make would be appreciated, 30 minutes to all day long, whatever you can contribute!

We are also in need of tables and chairs for folks to eat their refreshments, as well as heavy duty extension cords, coolers, and 10x10 pop up tents. If you have any of these items that you can lend to the school for the carnival, please let me know right away!

Please contact me as soon as possible so we can accommodate your time commitment and/or item to borrow.

On behalf of all the students, staff and PTO,

Thank you!

Let your voice be heard! Review proposed MUSD 2008-09 & 2009-10 School Year Calendars

MUSD is seeking parent and community input on the two options proposed for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 school calendars. Comments can be registered by calling 520.568.5142 or by emailing tbeckett@musd20.org.

The only difference is Option 1 starts one week earlier than Option 2, and it also has a fall break in October (one week).  Call or send your emails to Tom Beckett (link above) and place your vote - let your voice be heard!

Valentine Candy Gram!

2nd Annual MES Student Council Valentine Candy Grams.

Student council members will be selling these for 50 cents on Monday, February 11th through Wednesday, February 13th. In the cafeteria from 7-7:20a, and also during lunch. The grams will be delivered to classes on Thursday, February 14th. Send a happy message to your child from your family, and at the same time help support the student council.

MES Families - You Are Number One!!

As of December 21st, MES families had registered purchases over $215,500 at Fry's Marketplace, putting us NUMBER ONE IN ARIZONA!   This means that MES Diamondbacks PTO will receive the maximum $2,000 donation from Fry's VIP Cool Cash program!  Prescott High School, leading for most of the school year, is listed in 2nd place.  Thanks to all the participating MES families and friends who registered!

As of December 16th, 83 MES participants have raised $322.80 through Bashas' Thanks A Million program, which will pay out 1% of our registered purchases through March 31st, up to $2,500!!!  If you haven't signed up for this program in person, please do so the next time you visit a Bashas' shopping center.  Ask any cashier to link your Thanks a Million card to ID# 28234, benefiting the MES Diamondbacks PTO.  In October, Bashas gave MES a special $100 incentive bonus in recognition of our innovative and unique promotions for this program.

Keep up the great work, Diamondbacks!!!  Check out our FUNdraising page for more easy ways to benefit MES and the Parent Teacher Organization.

Introducing...Slither!

The Diamondback's Mascot now has a name: Slither!  Thanks to all students, parents, teachers and staff who participated in the "Name the Diamondback" contest in November. The winning entry was submitted by two classes - Mrs. Rakoci (4th Grade) and Ms. Zimmer (5th Grade) - and was chosen from a great big pile of 29 Super Suggestions!  Students in the winning classrooms received a certificate good for an ice cream cone at Baskin Robbins.  Everyone can be proud of Slither!

Register for Adopt a Classroom

Adopt-A-Classroom invites the community into the classroom in support of teachers and their students. By adopting a classroom, donors form partnerships with specific classrooms providing financial and moral support. Volunteers Needed

Feel free to just show up at the school and ask what you can do. If you have not yet attended the mandatory volunteer orientation, there’s still an array of things that can be done up at the front for the staff and teacher’s. Don’t be shy!

  • Come to the PTO meeting and be entered into our monthly drawing!
  • Help pop popcorn on Thursdays & Fridays for “Popcorn Friday.” Without parent volunteers “Popcorn Fridays” may cease to exist!
  • Please contact a PTO member if you need suggestions on what you can do to help!
  • Committee Leadership: Parents are needed to lead & participate in making MES the best school possible for our kids!

Go MES Diamondbacks!!!
